Archive Of Featured Shirts

This is an archive of shirts that have been featured on the front page.

October 2005 to November 2005

[ A blue T-shirt with the logo 'I can't talk but I still have lots to say' on the front. ][D]

To coin a phrase, "Some of my best friends can't talk." Actually, it happens to be true as well! Hi Maree!

There are many reasons why somebody might not talk - even the disabilities that I have myself can leave someone unable to speak. The important part is establishing other ways to communicate, and using the methods that work best for you.

... and wearing this shirt, of course.

July 2005 to September 2005

[ A white sweatshirt with the logo 'Soon My Kind Will Rule The World' on the front. ][D]

I think it's definitely about time that people with disabilities had a go at world domination. After all, we know that nobody else has done it very well!

Note: I've been told by a lot of people with autism-spectrum diseases that they really loved this particular shirt! The non-neuro-typical are very welcome here.

13 May 2005 to 2 July 2005

[ An unbleached or [D]

I don't know what it is, but this shirt but it just makes everybody laugh ... whether they're disabled or just drunk!

Can I just confess complete ignorance on this one, please? I get the feeling it might be safer for my brain.

14 April 2005 to 12 May 2005

[ A grey shirt with navy-blue collar and cuffs, and the slogan Dangerously Over-Medicated. Full description further down the page. ][D]

There are approximately seven point three billion doses of capsules, tablets, pills, potions, powders, lotions, creams, sprays and patches that I take every day to cope with the symptoms of my dozen-or-so diseases.

I figure that if that doesn't qualify me as "over-medicated", nothing ever will!

11 March 2005 to 13 April 2005

[ A natural/unbleached-coloured t-shirt. The slogan is: I have dis ... disleck ... dyslec ... I Can't Spell. For full description see [D]-link, following. ][D]

In my family of three brothers, myself, and my two parents, there are only two people that haven't been dyslexic all their lives - myself, Ricky, and my Dad. And I have become dyslexic because of the cognitive effects of my ME/CFS, so at the moment five out of the six of us are effectively dyslexic.

It seemed to follow naturally that at least one NoPity Shirt should focus on dyslexia. This is my first dyslexia shirt, and the family has pronounced that they like it and bombarded me with ideas for more of them, so I suspect it won't be my last!

8 February 2005 to 10 March 2005

[ A white t-shirt with light blue sleeves. The slogan is: I do it this way because it's easier. For full description see [D]-link, following. ][D]

I Do It This Way Because It's Easier!

Why else would anybody do something in a certain way?

Doing things differently to others comes with the territory, when you have a disability or chronic illness. Do you use a wheelchair, scooter, crutches, hearing aids ... or any other disability equipment for that matter? Or do you just modify the way you go about things?

If you're tired of people asking why you do it that way, then this shirt should solve the problem for you!

1 January 2005 to 7th February 2005

[ T-Shirt showing the slogan, This Is What A Person With A DISABILITY Looks Like. For full description see [D]-link, following. ][D]

This is one of my favourite shirts. It was designed at the request of some people with invisible disabilities who were tired of never being recognized as having a disability.

I have an ongoing fantasy that everybody with a disability - visible or invisible - gets one of these shirts, or one like it, and then all on the same day we turn up wearing our shirts. Imagine all the non-disabled people gaping at everybody!
